Loco Perfecto $80 Loco understands a runner's frustration when, after a number of months running in a shoe, they attempt to purchase another pair only to find the shoe has been updated so much as to be unrecognizable. Loco is keeping models in their line, unchanged, for 5 years, so if a runner finds that the workman-like, no-frills shoes meet their needs, they'll have ample opportunity to get another pair. The Perfecto is a high-mileage shoe with a touch of support and stability for runners with mild overpronation. The polyurethane innersole and dual-density EVA foam provide a well-cushioned ride that will last for many miles at a price that won't break the bank. The upper is a well-tailored, open mesh which secures the foot well, to take advantage of the generous EVA underfoot. Our weartester had this to say: "I was surprised at the firm cushioning and support. Shoe felt fine on my 8-mile runs; comfortable for my feet and knees." The Xpresso is one of four shoes offered by LOCO, a new company targeting runners who are frustrated by ever-changing shoe technologies and ever-increasing prices. Current LOCO styles will be produced through 2008—with absolutely no changes. Whether this is good news or bad news, of course, depends upon how you like their current models. |
