Why LOCO?

OK, you'd have to be a little crazy to start a running shoe company, right? At least that's what we heard as we launched LOCO Sports. But there is a method to our madness.

We believe most marketers of running shoes have gotten away from their roots and have become more fashion and technology-driven. The result is shoes that can be heavy, short-lived and expensive. Then, when you finally find a shoe that you like, it gets "improved" and you don't like it so much anymore. Bad deal.

So, we asked ourselves, "what if we made running shoes with fit and function as a first priority?" And then we asked "what if we made running shoes in designs that stay essentially the same for 5 years or more?" That's exactly what runners have been asking for.

5 Year Model Promise

LOCO will keep our running shoe models the same design for five years.

Now, you can finally enjoy running in the same model year after year after year.

Real Shoes. Real Runners.

Our Promise to Runners

So, why is LOCO Different?

The LOCO brand is unique in the market. The founders are runners who are interested in making great lightweight, essential running shoes. We are committed to making a difference by supporting runners, running clubs, race directors and school running teams. Our commitment is more than words; it is integral to our approach:

  • LOCO shoes are for runners, by runners—we are YOU!
  • We make running shoes based on fit, feel and functionality, not fashion.
  • LOCO models will be available in the same essential design for 5 years or longer.
  • LOCO is committed to the running community.

We are committed to giving back to the running community. LOCO supports the running community in spirit and with specific programs aimed at giving back to the sport. We support local school teams, work directly with local running clubs and work with Race Directors who are affiliated with running-related non-profit entities.

What LOCO is not:

  • We are not a fashion brand, churning out a never-ending array of shoes long on looks and short on performance.
  • We are not hyper-technologists—don't get us wrong. Technology is good, but not when it adds to weight & price or, the worst, does nothing for performance!
  • We are not a large, publicly held corporation focused only on profitability, shareholder value and Wall Street stock prices. We are owned by runners like you.

Enough already! Check out what other runners are saying.

As Bill says "that adds up to a whole pile of experience with running shoes. My legs and feet have taken a bit of a pounding over the years". Bill in the Voyageur Marathon, 1993

"I need shoes that are stable, cushioned and responsive, but aren't outrageously expensive, especially when the feel and protection inevitably begins to fade after no more than a few hundred miles or a few short months of use."

While he considers himself no more than a casual fringe athlete (with less than ideal mechanics), he has PB's of 2:46 for the marathon (under 2:50 23 times), 1:19 for the half, 57 min for 10 miles and 35:10 for 10k...along with 50k (4:11) and 50 miles (7:10).
